CFA Institute publishes the curriculum and makes its exams to test what is on the curriculum. So it should be clear to any candidate that to ignore the curriculum is a bad strategy.
Having said that, the curriculum is rather long and reading and absorbing concepts from it is sometimes hard. IFT videos follow and are close to the curriculum and this is why they are helpful to thousands of candidates.
You can watch IFT videos to:
-Cover all the learning outcomes (LO's) found in the curriculum
-Go through examples to get a clear understanding
At a minimum, go back to the curriculum to:
-Read the examples in the curriculum (aka blue-box examples) and do them yourself too.
-Do the practice problems from the curriculum at the end of each reading.
